FRANK
- Paul Prescott
Paul divides his time equally between acting, directing and writing.
Having trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as an actor,
he spent the first twelve years of his career doing just that, appearing
in many of the TV series of that time such as; Special Branch,
Manhunt, Hadleigh, Wednesday Playhouse and Potter.
Theatre work took him all over the UK with seasons at the Oxford Playhouse,
Leicester Haymarket, Liverpool Playhouse, Royal Lyceum – Edinburgh,
Lincoln, Sheffield, Leatherhead and many more.
In 1979 he and partner Carlo Lange set up ‘La Bonne Crepe Café
Theatre’ and over the next seventeen years this intimate restaurant
theatre produced over 140 original productions, some eighty of which
Paul wrote and directed. In 1996 he continued to work as an actor,
director and writer, staging productions at Riverside Studios, Jermyn
Street Theatre and the Edinburgh Festival. In
2000 his musical Dusty opened at the Churchill Theatre,
Bromley and then toured the UK for eight months with Mairi Wilson
in the lead. Last year he directed his musical Footsteps to
the Moon at the White Bear and Cockpit Theatres on the London
Fringe which he wrote alongside Rod Anderson.
More recently, he appeared in the highly acclaimed Who’s
the Daddy at the Kings Head Theatre playing David Blunkett,
and earlier this year, the lead in George Parsons new play Being
Olivia at Croydon Warehouse. Paul’s most recent Television
appearances include Pie in the Sky, The Bill and
Captain Bongo in two episodes of the final series of Byker Grove
(BBC). This last summer, he directed She Loves Me at the
Gatehouse Theatre and a workshop production of the new musical
Next Doors Baby at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond.
